Student Donation

Kirsten Bartlett
6th grade
A BIG thanks to sixth-grader Kirsten Bartlett for making a donation to our library.  Be on the lookout for Kirsten's picture in an upcoming edition of the Westmoreland News.

Donations make it possible for the library to purchase more supplies, newspaper and magazine subscriptions and, of course, BOOKS!!!

If you, too, would like to make a donation, please feel free to stop by and see Ms. Creasy.  Checks should be given to her and be made payable to WMS.

Six Flags Read to Succeed Logs Now Due

Tomorrow, February 26, is the final date for 6th graders to turn in their reading logs to be eligible for a free ticket to Six Flags Over Georgia.  Reading logs and a parent letter for the program were passed out to students in January.

Students were encouraged to complete 6 hours of independent reading for fun in order to earn a ticket.  Reading for homework or a class assignment would not count.

All students returning a completed reading log will be eligible for other prizes, as well.

This was our first year to participate in the Six Flags program.  We're looking forward to an even better level of participation next year.

VFW Donates Books...LOTS of Books

Westmoreland’s local VFW Post recently made a large donation of new books to our library.  Delivering the books were Post Commander Roger Pullen, Senior Vice-Commander John Mechozcki, Quartermaster Ray Roberts, and Chaplain Dave Creasy.

We are just thrilled to have received this wonderful gift!  Thank you, Veterans, for your continued service to our community!!!

Shown with the donated items are three of the school’s library workers:  (L-R) Kourtney Clark, Amelia Anderson, and Mallory Graves.
