Ornaments 17 - 20

Here they are!  The last four ornaments from this year's library Christmas tree.  Now you have all you need to be able to enter the contest.  Good luck!  And remember...entry forms can be picked up in the library.  The contest ends at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16.  Prizes will be awarded on Dec. 17.

Puzzle of the Month: The Polar Express

This month's puzzle has been one based on the beloved children's Christmas book The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg.  Students have enjoyed adding a few pieces here and there whenever their class has visited the library.

FUN FACT:

Did you know that author Chris Van Allsburg features the same dog in all of his books, including The Polar Express?  The fictional dog, Fritz, is based on the real-life pet of his brother-n-law, a bull terrier named Winston.  In The Polar Express the little dog is featured as a puppet displayed on the bedpost.

A hint about one of the following ornaments:  It is based on a book set in the 1960s.

If you have not stopped by the library to pick up your entry form, do so soon.  The contest ends Dec. 16, and there will be a winner from each grade.

Stay golden! (Psss...that's a hint)

Christmas Contest 2021

Can you believe it's almost time for Christmas?  And you know what than means...the fourth annual Christmas Book Ornament Contest begins today!

The library Christmas tree has been decorated with 20 ornaments representing different works of literature.  The student from each grade who guesses the most correct titles wins a prize to be given away on Friday, December 17.  Titles range from children's favorites and books that were later turned into movies to classic works and even one Shakespearean play.

Entry forms can be found on the circulation desk in the library and are due by Dec. 16.  So, stop by and look whenever you have some free time.  We will also feature pictures of two or three of the ornaments here daily until the end of the contest.

Good luck!

New Books...

The library has recently purchased a few more books to add to our Thanksgiving collection, so stop by and check them out!

P.S.  If you've never read anything about the "lost colony of Roanoke" you need to.  Its mystery is a fascinating story.  We now have two titles on the subject.  As of today, they are both checked out to other students, but you can always log into your library account on OPAC and reserve one.

Happy Reading!

Veterans' Day 2021

"For all we can ever do for our heroes is remember them and remember what they did."

                                                                         -    Ronald Reagan 11/11/1985

Happy Veterans' Day to all our who have served in our armed forces.  We thank you for your service.

Click on the link below to see pictures and information about individual veterans (submitted by our teachers and students) in a Padlet created by Ms. Kathy Jones' 8th grade Coding and Robotics Exploratory class.

Several of our students conducted interviews with a veteran.  These interviews will be on display in the library for the next couple weeks for students to see.

Many of our books on soldiers and the wars they have fought are on display and available for checkout.
