Registration Night Door Prize Winner

During our two registration nights, parents who visited the library were able to enter a drawing to win the book How to Raise a Reader.  Congratulations to our winner, Ms. Christina Moore! Pictured with the book is Ms. Moore's daughter Allison, an 8th grade student here at WMS.

Our library loves promoting reading through contests, projects and programs, so be sure to check here often for more information on such.

"The Good is Close at Hand"

The following is a quote my favorite children’s author Kate DiCamillo shared on her Facebook page one year ago today. She said reading it was a balm to her spirit.

A year ago we were charting new waters at school with virtual and hybrid learning due to the pandemic and, while things are somewhat more normal this year, I still look forward to truly calm seas. I hope you enjoy the following quote as much as Kate and I do.
“All these squalls to which we have been subjected are signs that the weather will soon improve and things will go well for us, because it is not possible for the bad or the good to endure forever; from this it follows that since the bad has lasted for so long a time, the good is close at hand.” —- Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote.

Meet Our Library Helpers

Every year, two students from each grade are chosen to help out in the library.  Anyone with a strong, dependable work ethic who would like to work in the library is encouraged to contact me at the end of the school year for possible future placement.  Duties include checking in and out books, shelving books, running errands, and other light clerical work.

These young ladies are our helpers in the library this year.  They will be available to assist you in locating a book and/or checking one in or out during 1st, 2nd or 4th blocks.

Welcome Back!

Well, after what seems to have been the shortest summer break ever, we've made it through our first week of school (even if it was only a four day week)!  Hopefully, this school year will be a little more normal than the previous.

Did you do any reading throughout the summer?  I hope so.  My family and I took a trip out west so a lot of my reading was about the history of the places we visited.

I enjoyed seeing many of you in the library on registration night and hope you were able to have your picture taken in front of the Back to School display.

Finally, this year in your ELA classes you'll again be reading novels aligned to the Wit and Wisdom curriculum, but I encourage you to stop by the library often for some other works, as well.
I'm looking forward to a year of some great reads and hope you are, too!

See you soon!
