Welcome to the '25-'26 School Year!

Welcome back, everyone! I’m not sure about you, but I don’t know where the summer has gone.  How is it almost the first day of school again!  It seems summers go by faster and faster each year.  Of course, that may be because I'm just getting older.  Ha!

I am so excited to see all your smiling faces again, as well as lots of new faces, and I look forward to sharing some great books with you this year.  I hope you'll find many new stories that will become personal favorites.

You can count on the library to continue sponsoring many fun activities and events, including our Halloween Trivia Night, which is always a lot of fun and was wildly successful last year.

We will begin rolling out iPads to 7th and 8th grade on Tuesday, August 5 followed by 6th grade on Wednesday.  It will take a few days after that to get iPads assigned to brand new students to our system.  After that, I hope to get our ELA classes into the library for visits just as soon as possible.

Until I get to see you, keep reading!

WMS Students Meet Author Kwame Alexander

Yesterday, some of our students had the chance to go with me to meet award-winning author Kwame Alexander in Bowling Green, Kentucky as part of the conclusion of the "Let's Read" series sponsored by the Warren County Public Library.

Mr. Alexander is the author of many books, including the 2015 Newbery Medalist The Crossover.  For the past few years, The Crossover has been read by our eighth grade students as part of the Wit and Wisdom curriculum.

The girls were also able to meet actor Trevor Bush who played Vondie in the television adaptation of the novel which airs on Disney Plus.

Hopefully, next year, we will be able to arrange more trips for all our students to meet some incredible authors throughout the year.

Until then, keep reading!
