Read and Win!

Our 5th Annual Battle of the Books is just around the corner...one week from today, actually.  All participants need to make sure they've read their chosen books.  We're looking forward to an awesome battle!

As a little extra incentive to do well we are having a drawing for a Grand Prize.  All students who are on a winning team (there will be one winning team from each grade) will have their names entered into a drawing for a large tote bag full of prizes.  And just what are some of those prizes?

2012 Battle of the Books Informational Meetings to Take Place



Students interested in participating in our fifth annual Battle of the Books should be sure to come to the grade-appropriate informational meeting on Thursday or Friday, as teams and captains will be decided then. Participants will have the opportunity to view the books on this year's lists and will receive a copy of the lists.



8th Grade Information Meeting

7th and 6th Grade Information Meetings


Friday, March 2 during Rx



An average of at least a B in reading is desired for participation. Students failing any classes will not be allowed to participate.

Want to earn a free ticket to a Sounds baseball game? Of course, you do. Here's how...READ!



Our annual reading program sponsored by the Sounds begins this week. Our game date is Friday, May 11 at 7:05 p.m. Please see below for more details.



NASHVILLE SOUNDS READING PROGRAM GUIDELINES



For each book you read you are required to complete a short (half-sheet) book slip in order to receive credit. Ms. Creasy has the book slips in the library.



Prizes:


One book = Ozzie (mascot) bookmark


Two books = the above plus a free ticket to the game

Three books = the above plus an entry into a drawing for a prize bag full of goodies


Four books = the above plus another entry into the drawing



TO RECEIVE YOUR FREE TICKET YOU MUST RETURN THE FIRST TWO BOOK SLIPS TO MRS. CREASY BY FRIDAY, APRIL 20.


TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE GOODY BAG DRAWING THE THIRD AND FOURTH SLIPS NEED TO BE RETURNED BY FRIDAY, MAY 11.

Parents and students,

For a limited time only you may enjoy reading some free e-books from the Capstone Co. There are 456 titles from which to choose. There are several for younger children, so I plan on letting my own son take advantage of this until it ends. To me, it seems most of the 456 selected titles are geared toward boys. Enjoy!

Battle of the Books - This year, there will be ten books on each grade's list. More info. to come. Be thinking about creating teams, etc.

Extended Library Hours

The library will now be open late each evening, Mondays-Thursdays. Students are encouraged to stop by to get help with their homework, check in/out books, work on research projects, or participate in our book club, which will hopefully be starting soon.


Transportation is not provided so, in order to stay, students must pre-arrange their visit by having a parent call or email the librarian. Students' rides must also be here by 4:30 each afternoon.


There is no charge to the student/parent for this service.
