Reading makes you smarter!
(those who read have higher GPAs and higher intelligence than those who don't)
Reading increases your vocabulary!
(and we all know a larger vocabulary makes you perform better on your ACT and SATs)
Reading can make you a better writer!
(duh!!! The more you read what professionals have written the better your own writing becomes)
Reading improves analytical thinking!
(readers are more quick to recognize patterns)
Reading reduces stress!
(when you read your mind shifts gears and is distracted from the stress of the day)
So, with all these great benefits why would you NOT want to read??? To really make reading rock at WMS, each student and staffulty member is being asked to read 10 books this year (I know... there are some who can do sooo much more, but we're starting small this year and 10 is a nice, round number). 10 months of school. 10 books. One. book. per. month. It can be done. And, of course, I'm sure there will be some grand event to celebrate this accomplishment at the end of the year, so stay tuned.
